When it comes to tablets, Samsung owns a large slice of the
market by maintaining its commitment to constant improvement of its devices and
proposing new solutions from time to time according to the needs of the end
user. Today we will talk about the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S , a fantastic tablet
with Windows 10 extremely flexible and suitable for many situations thanks to
its 2-in-1 design that includes an excellent cover with keyboard. The excellent
SuperAmoled screenand the meticulous choice of construction materials create
that "premium" feel we expect when we get our hands on a tablet like
this. We spent several weeks in the company of the device, going from simple
writing to entertainment. During this review, as usual, we will analyze the
device under all its technical aspects and characteristics, we will then
provide a photo gallery and then spend a good handful of lines to tell you
about our experience with the product in question, finally concluding with a
final comment in order to give a verdict on the actual quality of the TabPro S.
Technical specifications
As we have already
anticipated, versatility comes first and Samsung has thought of an appropriate
hardware for a device that can allow us to carry out various activities while
maintaining good autonomy. Its 2.2GHz Intel Core M processor , flanked by 4GB
of RAM and 128GB of SSD , allow us to have decent performance in various areas,
from web browsing to the lightest games that we would normally use on our
mobile devices. All this can count on a 5,200mAh battery which , according to
our tests, can actually last up to about 600 minutes.declared by Samsung. The
fast charge is also an excellent addition thanks to which we can charge the
tablet in just 150 minutes once the battery charger is connected via USB-C.
The screen does not accept any compromises and is
undoubtedly one of the strongest pieces of the tablet. A SuperAmoled FHD +
(2160 x 1440) equipped with multiple color profiles to suit user preferences.
The screen makes any operation, from entertainment to writing articles, a
delight. It enjoys an excellent range of colors and like many similar screens,
the blacks are perfect and never blurry .
Although it is not equipped with a pen (sold separately), in
the TabPro S bundle we find a cover including a keyboard that attaches to the
device via a system of magnets . Contrary to the premium feel of the tablet,
the keyboard is made of plastic but despite everything it is still comfortable
for writing and effective in many situations. Connected to its cover, the
device can be adjusted in just two angles , as can be seen from the photo
gallery below.
As for connectivity, the wireless module includes Wi-Fi
802.11 a / b / g / n / ac MIMO, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 technologies.
Finally, the camera is a 5MP both front and front , video
recording supports up to full HD 1080p.
The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is available in Wi-Fi and LTE
variants , with a decent price difference of around a couple of hundred euros.
The model we tested was only equipped with a Wi-Fi module.

premium feel, made with excellent attention to detail and materials, all in

Flexibility and portability
Given the less technical target to which this review is
addressed, we will tell about our experience with the tablet. During our test
period, we found ourselves on our way to Los Angels to cover the Destiny 2
Press Tour. The device was a perfect travel companion, thanks to its autonomy
the very long hours of flight needed to cross the ocean and get to your
destination passed much faster. The screen was at its best, allowing us to
follow our favorite TV series throughout the journey.
During a busy day full of notes taken using the ProTab S
keyboard, you return home with a few more hours of battery which, when put on
charge, reaches 100%, satisfying our expectations and thus guaranteeing a
fantastic relationship between charging time and use. .
In the world of 2-in-1 devices, flexibility is everything
and our protagonist knows it well, for this reason, when it comes to games we
can rely on its performance. We spent a few hours playing Minecraft Windows 10
Edition, without noticing anomalies or high operating temperatures. The metal
coating of the tablet ensures excellent heat dissipation in general.
Since the operating system is Windows 10 without any
limitations , the TabPro S also asserts itself as an excellent screen on which
to stream your games from the Xbox One console via the “Xbox” app downloadable
directly from the store.
Taking notes and studying is the top as with many devices of
this kind. The screen is very relaxing and never annoying thanks to the
excellent light sensor that dynamically adjusts the brightness according to the
light in our environment.
When it comes to Windows 10 on a Mobile device, One Note is
perhaps one of the best experiences offered by the office suite. Here the
absence of a bundled pen can make you turn up your nose , but anyone willing to
use the device as a replacement for a notebook will probably have no problem
buying the Stylus pen separately for 60 €.
Excellent integration with Galaxy family devices thanks to
Galaxy Continuity which allows you to use smartphones such as the S7 for
unlocking via fingerprints or online payments.
Conclusions
Ultimately, despite being a product of 2016, the ProTab S is
a tablet that still defends itself well and in step with the times . The build
quality is excellent and everything is done in a workmanlike manner so as not
to disappoint the expectations of a very demanding user. Samsung creates a
product suitable for everyone, whether they are students or workers with the
constant need to move and be able to rely on a durable product that allows them
to perform all those tasks ranging from web browsing to productivity using the
office package.
Obviously, the entertainment component is not neglected,
thanks to Windows 10, the user is free to browse a vast catalog of applications
or software to use the ProTab S as a real portable entertainment system. Both
the screen and the speakers are of excellent quality, if combined with our
favorite movies or a TV series on Netflix they will give great satisfaction.
A recurring word in our review is flexibility. The Intel
Core M3 guarantees the right balance between consumption and performance, doing
justice to a tablet born to be ready for many situations. Obviously, under very
heavy graphics applications or using software that demand a lot of resources,
the device will do nothing else to fail, but it is fair to remember that the
market offers many solutions depending on the required performance.
In this sense, the ProTab S proves to be an ideal travel
companion or a small portable entertainment system. It is very light,
intuitive, comfortable and above all it has an excellent battery life that will
hardly leave its owners disappointed, whether it is entertainment, creation of
documents or even browsing the internet.
Not all that glitters is gold , a couple of tricks would
have been enough to make the overall experience extremely better. First of all,
the keyboard which despite being excellent and functional is made with mediocre
materials , clashing with the rest of the product which on the contrary can
boast an excellent build quality. The absence of other ports besides USB-C is
unfortunately a negative aspect to report . Although it is possible to buy any
multi-port adapter separately to make the most of the potential of USB-C, from
a 2-in-1 it is also expected to be ready to interface with a good variety of
peripherals without having to resort to various tricks and unfortunately in
this sense, the TabPro S fails.
If you are looking for an "on-the-go" tablet with
excellent autonomy and decent performance, capable of both entertaining you and
browsing the web or producing documents by relying on a small, extremely
portable device, you will have bread for your teeth. If you are looking for an
uncompromising tablet that allows you to replace your laptop or PC, we are
unfortunately off track.
